Why Moolage exists
Most online calculators make a simple question harder than it needs to be. You want to know a monthly mortgage payment or how your savings might grow, and instead you hit an email wall, three screens of ads, or a "result" that quietly leaves out half the real cost. Moolage started from a simple frustration with that experience.
Every tool here is built to answer one question well and show its working. You get the number the moment you land on the page, with the full breakdown underneath — because if a figure matters enough to look up, it's worth seeing how it was calculated, not just the headline.
What we believe
- Instant. Every calculator is a single lightweight page with no frameworks and no tracking scripts. It answers before a heavier page would have finished loading.
- Private. The math runs entirely in your browser. The numbers you type are never uploaded or stored — there's no account and no database behind them.
- Honest. We show the real total, not a teaser. A mortgage estimate here includes tax, insurance and PMI, because that's the figure that actually leaves your account.
How the calculators work
Each page uses standard, well-established financial formulas — the same amortization and compounding math a lender or spreadsheet would use — and runs them live in your browser as you type. The core arithmetic is exact for the numbers you enter. Where a figure depends on real-world rates that vary by person and place, such as property tax, insurance or investment returns, we treat it as a clearly-labelled estimate and say so on the page. Moolage gives you a well-built starting point, not a formal quote or financial advice.
How Moolage stays free
Moolage is free to use, with no account and no limits, and we intend to keep it that way. Where a calculator has a genuinely useful next step — comparing mortgage rates, opening a savings or investment account — we may include clearly-labelled partner links, always placed after the free result, never in front of it. That's the only way the site is monetised. We don't sell or share what you type, for the simple reason that it never reaches us: it stays on your device.
Independent by design. Moolage isn't owned by a bank, a lender, or a comparison giant. That independence is the whole point — it's why the calculators can show the honest number instead of steering you toward a particular product.
